Carmel Fisher

Carmel Fisher knows what it takes to build something from the ground up. In 1998, she founded Fisher Funds Management Limited and, over two decades as Managing Director, grew it from $17 million to more than $8 billion under management. Today, Fisher Funds stands as one of New Zealand’s largest investment and KiwiSaver providers, trusted by over half a million clients.

With more than 30 years in the investment industry, Carmel helped shape the way New Zealanders think about saving and investing. She was among the first to establish an independent retail fund management company, building it through innovation, smart acquisitions, and a strong commitment to clients. In 2017, Fisher Funds was purchased by a consortium of TSB Group Investments and Boston-based TA Associates.

Carmel’s contribution to business and investment has been recognised through multiple honours, including the EY Entrepreneur of the Year (Services Category), an INFINZ Fellowship, and induction into both the Co. of Women and North Harbour Business Halls of Fame. In 2019, she was appointed a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to business, investment, and philanthropy.

Beyond the boardroom, Carmel is a mentor and advocate for women’s financial independence and literacy. Her influence continues to shape how New Zealanders build confidence, resilience, and long-term success in their financial futures.
